Rainbow Casino Photos

The weather was supposed to cloudy and rainy, perfect weather for a casino visit. At the last minute I signed up for a bus tour to the casino in May 2005. The promotion for the trip was a $20 cash match. Upon entry to the casino you're given a coupon. You go to the nearest cashier, give them $20 cash and get back $40 in any denomination you wish. I choose cash plus a roll of nickels to plug in whenever the mood stuck. Right near the bus entrance handed out fresh warm muffins and good coffee. They both tasted good after a long bus ride.

Since I never located a machine I wanted to play that took coins, I ended up cashing in the nickels and getting more handy folding money. There was an odd mixture of coin, cash and ticket machines throughout. Since I played penny, nickel and quarter machines, I was never sure what kind of money I'd get back. Sometimes I would cash out and get nickels, quarters, dollar tokens and or tickets. One time I even "locked up" a machine trying to get 42cents back, which was the balance left after I got back dollar tokens. There was no way out of that one - I stupidly waited a minute for the change person rather than just walk away. Another time I put in a dollar token and a few stray nickels into a malfunctioning machines and never even got credits. I pushed all the available buttons and never got a techy to help out or anything else. Noticing service people preoccupied at a machine across the aisle, I just  left.

I looked all over for a video blackjack machine and never found one. I settled on a quarter video poker machine with a less a than optimal payout schedule. It looked like there were plenty of regular slot machines that satisfied most peoples needs.

The bar area looked nice, but it was closed and there weren't any machines located there anyway.

The snack bar was close to the grill area. Both looked reasonably priced and of respectable quality. The daily promotion was a buy-one-get-one entre at the grill, so it was a bit busy even for a Wednesday. The Rainbow chicken sandwich with cheese and bacon was good, as was the service attitude and speed.

All the staff was pleasant. Even the security guard who told me I wasn't allowed to take photos inside the casino was courteous and nice. The photos I did take, were all taken before I became aware of their policy. At the previous casino I went to, I asked a security guard if it was OK to take pictures. He said "sure", so I never gave it another thought. The last time I went to Las Vegas, I took hundreds of photos in all the nice strip hotels. It wasn't until I got to an older crummy downtown hotel that I was told that photos weren't allowed. I'll be sure to ask before I go on anymore future trips.
